The Association of Czech Graphic Artists HOLLAR Prague (ACGA HOLLAR)) belong to the oldest and at the same time most significant art associations. Through its existence it significantly contributed to shaping the modern Czech culture. It was founded already in 1917 with the aim to support the development of Czech art, namely free graphic arts. In their name they adopted the name of a famous Czech engraver Václav Hollar (607-1677). The initiator of the origin of ACGA HOLLAR was at that time already world-famous graphic artist T. F. Šimon joined by a number of other renown Czech artists: M. Švabinský, V. Preissig, F. Kupka, V. Stretti, Z. Braunerová, F. Bílek, J. Konůpek and others. The association developed a rich exhibition and publication activity since its foundation up until the beginning of 1970s when their efforts were stopped by the normalization regime. Today, ACGA HOLLAR is alive again and the best it can offer is waiting for you in the Galerie in the premises of the Palác of Anna von Rogendorf.
