The Foundation for the Development of Architecture and Civil Engineering has awarded Port 1560 the title of Building of the Year 2024! A total of 142,545 people participated in the voting for the 32nd installment of this prestigious competition.
Port 1560 earned this title for its unique and exceptionally executed renovation of the former Eggenberg Brewery in Český Krumlov, a UNESCO-listed site in its entirety. The reconstruction sensitively preserved architectural elements from different periods, including the Gothic roof truss, Renaissance ceilings, and recently discovered ribbed vaults in the transverse walls. The original column paintings were also restored, further enhancing the site's historical value. The jury also praised the high quality of our interactive exhibitions, which provide insight into life at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and into the workings of historical brewing technologies.
This award is an immense recognition of our work. We will continue striving to fulfill our vision of creating a place where history, culture, and community intersect. Your support is proof that our efforts are meaningful.
Every vote motivates us to bring you new cultural experiences, exhibitions, concerts, and much more. Thank you for being part of this journey with us—together, we are shaping the cultural heart of Krumlov, where we honor the past, celebrate the present, and welcome the future.
